Pain

Peppermint EO a very potent fast pain reliever that is over 50% menthol.

Orange EO is high in limonene and works for muscle pain, tissue repair and lymphatic congestion in tissue.

Cajeput EO, also known as white tea tree oil, is used in the product Tiger Balm.  It has a history of use in muscle pain, joint pain, nerve pain and healing of tissues.

Chili Pepper EO contains cayenne, a chemical that decreases Substance P which causes pain in tissue.

DMSO is an organic solvent that is a byproduct of the wood industry. It is a potent anti-inflammatory, protect cells in cryogenics, helps tissue heal even in post spinal cord injuries. It can carry drugs and nutrients across the cell membrane. Click here for more information.  http://www.dmso.org/articles/information/muir.htm

MSM is a metabolite of DMSO. It does not produce the heat in tissue or the garlic odor that DMSO does. Urinary excretion of DMSO is complete at 120 hours, MSM at about 480 hours. Research has shown MSM acts as an analgesic, reduces inflammation, passes skin and cellular membranes, dilates blood vessels and decreases muscle spasm. It helps in amino acid bonding to build protein and heal tissue, is anti-parasitic, stimulates the immune system and is a cholinesterase inhibitor which decreases pain.

Olive oil is high in omega 3 fatty acid, polyphenols and has a history since Roman times as a liniment and a healing and anointing oil.

Emu oil is anti-inflammatory and known to reduce pain from arthritis, muscle and joint aches and help with skin issues.  It is high in Omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

Infused Arnica oil has a long history of use in healing salves and cosmetics.

Application Suggestions (See Essential Oil Usage for more information and a dilution chart.)
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oilunscented lotion or unscented cream and apply on area of concern or as desired. Consider using a roll-on applicator for ease of application of prediluted oil. Maximum topical dilution is 13% (1 part Fire and Ice and 4 parts carrier).

HEO's comment: This blend has 46% essential oils. For a 5% dilution in a 10ml roll-on applicator, add 32 drops Fire and Ice and fill to the should with a carrier.

Dr. Hull: Because Fire and Ice is a blend of oils and polar solvents, it separates in a red upper layer and a clear lower layer. Shake vigorously prior to use, then apply a small amount to the area of pain or injury and rub into the overlying skin. This works well with a roll-on applicator.

Dr. Hull's Comment: "Fire and Ice uses a multifaceted approach to pain management. The formulary has nine ingredients that work together to obtain an excellent result in most people. The combination generates a warm feeling due to increased circulation in the area applied. This warm sensation is increased if the area applied is occluded with the seat of a vehicle or non-breathing clothing. Fire and Ice can be too warm for some people. Start treatment with a small amount and remember occlusion over the area increases the heat. If you should get it in your eye, use additional carrier oil to decrease the pain."

(Genesis 1:29-30, Ezekiel 47:12)
I must have referred 50 patients to you last week with the results of using my new oils! I have been using another brand of essential oils with some good results, but I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am with the Hopewell Essential Oils. I am grateful as a manual therapy practitioner that I am able to use them to relieve my patient's pain as well as the discomfort I experience after working all week. Last week, I went through 10mL in just 3 days, and with each patient that I used it on, they let me know how much wonderful relief they received from my treatment with Fire and Ice applied to the site of pain. I also use Strength on the sacrum, occiput and medial malleoli of the ankles. Sometimes, if one is in awful alignment, I will utilize Strength on the bottoms of the feet. Thank you again for being a blessing! Our Lord has a wonderful hand in your business, and I am grateful! - Dr. Kristen Mowry | Healing and Wellness Center of Kent Island
Safety
Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Essential oils are both lipophilic and hydrophobic. Lipophilic means they are attracted to fat— like the membranes of your eyes and skin. They are also hydrophobic, meaning they do not like water. Flushing with water will only send the essential oil back to the eye's membranes. Applying a carrier oil will create another fat for the essential oil to be attracted to other than the membranes of the eyes or skin. Tisserand suggests: "With essential oils, fatty oil has been suggested as an appropriate first aid treatment, though the advantage of saline [eyewash] is that the eyes can be continually flushed, and this is less easy with fatty oil." We’ve not known this to cause permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your health care provider.

DMSO is quickly absorbed through the skin and can carry contaminants and impurities with it. It is the penetrating quality of DMSO that makes it a desirable choice for ushering pure essential oils through the skin and into deeper tissues for healing to take place. Because DMSO is a solvent in this respect, use wisdom and apply only to skin free of chemicals.

Fire and Ice may stain clothing, so consider this when applying.
