Caution: True Lavender is often "extended" with hybrid lavender or synthetic linaloool and linalyl acetate. It is very important to be sure you only use a high quality, true Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), especially on burns and wounds.

Blood Pressure: Authors of Essential Oil Safety for Healthcare Professionals writes: "Many essential oils potentially lower blood pressure . . . However, there is no evidence that any essential oils exacerbate hypotension." (Tisserand, Robert; Young, Rodney)

Digitalis? Is Lavender contraindicated for those on digitalis? We've never seen this mentioned as a contraindication or even a caution. Those who have studied aromatherapy and worked with the oils and elderly taking these medications concur that this is not something they've encountered to be an issue or concern.

Estrogen? In vitro study, Lavender oil inhibited the growth of MCF-7 cells (Zu et al 2010) suggesting that, while it may bind to estrogen receptor sites in the body, it is not an estrogen mimic, and so does not promote estrogen.

Can essential oils and antibiotics be used together? by Robert Tisserand

Combination of essential oils and antibiotics reduce antibiotic resistance in plasmid-conferred multidrug resistant bacteria.
"The finding highlighted the potential of Peppermint, Cinnamon bark and Lavender essential oils being as antibiotic resistance modifying agent. Reduced usage of antibiotics could be employed as a treatment strategy to decrease the adverse effects and possibly to reverse the beta-lactam antibiotic resistance."

Essential Oils as Antimicrobial Agents—Myth or Real Alternative? by National Library of Medicine
Antimicrobial Properties of Lavender include: Herpes simplex, used to treat ulcers, burns and scarring. It has strong antiseptic effect against antibiotic-resistant strains, e.g., MRSA, VRE and E. coli. Lavender EO also has antibacterial activity against clinical strains of bacteria with upper respiratory infections, infections of the mouth, throat and lungs. Lavender can be used in chicken farming because it inhibits the growth of microorganisms (MIC % v/v), such as S. aureus ATCC 25923 (0.25), S. pullorum ATCC 13036 (0.50), C. albicans ATCC 10231 (0.625), E. coli ATCC 25922 (0.625), S. enteritidis ATCC 13076 (0.625), S. aureus MRSA/ORSA (0.625), E. coli [enro (−)] (1.0), P. aeruginosa (2.0), and S. typhimurium ATCC 14028 (5.0).) Additionally, when applied in a concentration of 0.4 mL/L in drinking water, it increased chicken body mass.

Folliculitis: Top Natural Supplements for Treatment by Newsmax

"The study demonstrated that lavender inhalation may have a persistent short-term effect on HRV with an increase in parasympathetic modulation. Women receiving aromatherapy experienced a significant improvement in sleep quality after intervention." PubMed article

Results:
"Carum carvi [Caraway], Lavandula angustifolia [Lavender], Trachyspermum copticum [Ajowan] and Citrus aurantium var. amara [Neroli] essential oils displayed the greatest degree of selectivity, inhibiting the growth of potential pathogens at concentrations that had no effect on the beneficial bacteria examined."
Conclusion:
"The most promising essential oils for the treatment of intestinal dysbiosis are Carum carvi, Lavandula angustifolia, Trachyspermum copticum, and Citrus aurantium var. amara. The herbs from which these oils are derived have long been used in the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms and the in vitro results of this study suggest that their ingestion will have little detrimental impact on beneficial members of the GIT microflora. More research is needed, however, to investigate tolerability and safety concerns, and verify the selective action of these agents."
HEO's Comment: One impressive conclusion from this study is that these essential oils displayed "selectivity" against detrimental bacteria but had -0- effect on the beneficial bacteria.

In his Complete Skin Care Series, Robert Tisserand shares that research showed that 1% Lavender was as effective for inflammation as it was undiluted.

The June 2012 issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society reported the effect of Lavender oil on a group of 145 nursing home residents in Japan. The results of the 12-month trial indicate that those exposed to “continuous olfactory stimulation from a lavender patch” had fewer falls (26 vs. 36) and reported a lesser degree of agitation. Another study from 2012 reports "evidence" that Lavender oil inhalation promotes relaxation by decreasing blood pressure, heart rate and skin temperature and caused the subject to feel “more active” and “fresher.” Desirable changes in brain wave patterns were also noted, including increased alpha and theta wave activity. In another study, after 12 weeks of inhaling Lavender for 20 minutes, midlife women participants showed improvement in the quality of their sleep, with results lasting up to a week after the trail ended.

Application Suggestions (See Essential Oil Usage for more information and a Dilution Chart.)
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oilunscented lotion or unscented cream and apply on area of concern or as desired. Consider using a roll-on applicator for ease of application of prediluted oil.

Since Lavender does not have a limiting dilution parameter, we suggest that adults follow the General Guidelines found on the Dilution Chart, which is:
2-3% for daily application
Up to 25% for short-term use

Children: For infants and children, please follow the Dilution Chart on the Babies and Children page.

Inhalation: Diffuse or use a personal Nasal Inhaler

Internal: Lavender is suitable for internal use within safe parameters if such use is deemed appropriate. We feel that internal use is rarely *needed* and should only be used with respect for how concentrated the oils are. HEO does not advocate internal use of essential oils without appropriate knowledge and understanding of how to administer, for what purpose, how much, which essential oils, safety concerns and so on. In our experience, essential oils are generally more effective used topically with proper dilution or inhaled. Kurt Schnaubelt Ph.D. notes that "French aromatherapy literature contains many references to using oils orally." He goes on to note that "generally 1 drop is always enough when ingesting essential oils." A potential toxicity hazard could occur when untrained people use essential oils orally and ingest too much. Keep in mind that while medical doctors or health care practitioners may prescribe essential oils for internal use, they are trained and experienced in the safe application of essential oils. It is not a matter of using "French aromatherapy" or "British" methods, it's a matter of experience and appropriate application.

1. I used Young Living Lavender for years before trying some of Hopewell’s Lavender. In my opinion, Hopewell's is a far superior oil. Ear issues that would not resolve using YL Lavender were resolved once we switched to yours. – W.H.

2. I am amazed at this oil. It can be applied to an  open wound without causing any pain. I had an accident that ripped off my toenail, and I used HEO’s Lavender on it as often as possible. I was wearing a shoe after one day, and after five days, my toenail had almost completely grown back. I never had one inkling of infection. – B.S.

3. I have been using Lavender for my allergies, and as a side bonus, it is helping me with my depression issues. A friend of mine started to have an allergy attack, and I told her to rub it on her chest. Her coughing stopped right away. She didn’t cough again the entire night!

4. I’ve used Hopewell Lavender internally to control my high blood pressure. – M.L.

5. My daughter has been doing a lot of scuba diving and got an outer ear infection. She had Lavender with her (Praise the Lord!), and it did the job well! She was in so much pain, and her EMT roommate said she could see puss. We put her on an active regimen of essential oils - especially the Lavender. Her ears cleared up! NOTE: Never put essential oils in the ear canal. Our daughter put the oil on the area outside the ear canal (the area you can see) and on the ear lobe. - M.E.K.

6. Lavender oil is my new best friend! I have used it on myself for skin blemishes by directly putting the oil on the blemish, and it never gets big or becomes a full-on pimple - ever! I've used it on my temples and the back of my neck for headaches and around the outside of my ears for earaches. I even rubbed it (diluted) on my teething 10-month-old's gums when teething. It worked wonders!
 -L.W.

7. My son burned his hand on a cast iron skillet this morning. It was not terribly burnt, so I applied Lavender essential oil on him to hopefully ease the pain and stop the screaming. Within minutes of a healthy coating of Lavender, he was snapping his fingers and smiling! I LOVE essential oils! - Joy S.

8. A lady who attends church with us talked to me about your products, as I have allergies and chronic ear issues that have caused severe hearing loss. We talked about using Lavender for allergies, and she convinced me to give it a try. When my order arrived, the first thing I did was try the Lavender (a drop under the tongue) as she had suggested. I took ½ the allergy meds that I normally take, and in the last 12 hours, I have had no reaction to the blooming weeds around the farm where we live. The next day, we started mixing a drop with a teaspoon of local honey (the honey we use actually comes from a keeper who places mobile hives on the farm where we live). I have gone from taking 6 to 8 doses a day of Benadryl to one dose in the morning. We thought we were all suffering from colds, coughs, runny noses, sneezing and drainage. After one dose of Lavender, all four of us (my wife, son, daughter and myself) sat there last night at dinner and remarked that it must have been severe allergies, and that it felt nice to have those symptoms relieved. - John B.

9. I want to thank you for your ministry. :-) I am really enjoying learning from you, and we are seeing some neat stuff from the oils. Our favorite these days is Lavender! I think I could buy it by the bucket full. I put it on pillows to help the kids get right to sleep, it has stopped a couple of nosebleeds INSTANTLY (that still blows my mind!) and it has been helping a good friend of ours with his allergies.

10. My 7-year-old daughter had 3 canker sores: Two on the corner of her mouth that didn't allow her to open her mouth very wide and one that started to form on the bottom near her two front teeth. The sores were so painful that she had trouble eating and sometimes drinking. I put Lavender in an eye dropper and put a few drops on each sore after each meal (3 times a day). She'd keep the oil in her mouth as long as she could stand it, then spit it out and rinse. I was amazed at how quickly it has helped because, so far, we haven’t been able to find anything to help with these sores. Typically, her canker sores last two weeks or more, but within 3 days, she could open her mouth. In 4 days, she looked significantly less swollen. We had been using some antiseptic liquid that made my daughter scream and cry anytime we even talked about it. When we started trying the Lavender oil, she didn't protest at all and even talked about how much better it was. The medicine trauma completely went away! - Bethany

11. I have used Lavender for years to soothe monthly cramps with great success, so when I went into premature labor with contractions and bleeding at 16 weeks, I immediately reached for my Lavender. I mixed a few drops of Lavender in about a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil and applied it directly on my abdomen, and prayed for the Lord to use His oil to stop the contractions. The first application seemed to have no effect, so after an hour, I did it again, and the bleeding and contractions slowed way down. I kept doing it through the day and a few times in the night. Within 24 hours, the bleeding and contractions had completely stopped. I continued using Lavender on my belly morning and evening. This was soothing and relaxing for me, but my OB was still very concerned about a premature birth. Many prayers were said on my behalf, and I was careful to hang out on the couch or recliner for about a month, but I never had another problem with premature labor or bleeding. Our sweet little daughter was born right on time, and she's the calmest baby I've had yet. I have to wonder if all that Lavender had some calming effect on her as well as me. Another bonus to my daily massages with this and the coconut oil is that I can't find a single stretch mark.

12. For a nosebleed, put Lavender on your finger and put it on the side of the nose that's bleeding (on the outside). I am not kidding you; almost as soon as you touch it, it just stops!! - Kelley

13. I have children who have constant nose bleeds, and they clot and end much more quickly with Lavender. I put a few drops of Lavender on the end of a facecloth and put it at the end of their nose and swab. It clots very quickly. I also use Lavender for cuts, like with a paring knife. It really does clot the blood. It's a gem at our house; I use it for many, many things.

14. I had burning eyes, an itchy roof of my mouth and persistent sneezing due to allergies. I put a drop of Lavender on the back of my clean hand and licked it. All symptoms stopped almost immediately and did not return. Great stuff! - L.L.

15. While sleeping, a spider bit me 3 times on the left side of my face. The entire left side of my face was swollen and itching, so I applied Lavender oil as soon as I got it. Within an hour, the itching had stopped. Then I applied both the Lavender and Basil, and I was so much better by the end of the day. Within 3 days, the bites were almost gone, and today, you can’t even tell the bites were there. About 8 years ago, I was in my garden and a spider bit me on my face. I went to the doctor 3 times, and the doctor had no solution but to give me a drug that was for leprosy that she thought might work for spider bites, which I did not take. It took WEEKS for the bite to clear up and left a scar. Your oils are such a blessing to me! - Debby

16. My 15-year-old daughter was cooking an egg in the microwave, and it exploded in her face. She had 1st,  2nd and 3rd-degree burns. Her nose and left cheek were the most severe. She is very blessed it did not blind her - God really protected her. I initially used Lavender, coconut oil and aloe vera, and then we added raw honey to the treatment and rotated these every hour. We also used your Comfrey/Calendula salve and have continued to use it. The doctor prescribed a silver ointment, but we wanted to avoid that. He also recommended a plastic surgeon with the possibility of a skin graft. When we saw the plastic surgeon, he was amazed at how well it was already healing. Two days later, her face looked amazing! Her plastic surgeon was shocked. He was very skeptical of what we were using on it, but he cannot argue with the results! It does not look like she will need a skin graft or any further medical treatment! Praise God! UPDATE: Her face has no scars at all. I am so thankful to God for His mercy and for leading us to your site! Thanks again, Robin

17. Praise the Lord! I have always been surprised at how quickly Lavender works! My four-year-old spilled hot tea on himself and had second-degree burns. I immediately rinsed him off and applied Lavender. His burns cleared right up; he doesn't even have scars. - Rachel

18. I used Lavender on a ringworm patch on my 4-month-old’s face and it cleared in 2 days. Yay! - Julie

19. This week has been very crazy and stressful. Mom's service dog, Shelley, was very worried about Mom to the point that she vomited Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday, after Mom left via ambulance, the poor dog was very freaked out. I sent an e-mail to my church asking for prayer and updates about my mom's health condition, and I asked for prayer for Shelley (the dog), too. In answer to prayer, the Lord immediately brought to mind to put a drop of your Lavender on the top of her head. She immediately started to calm down, and her breathing returned to normal. After a short time, she was still a little antsy, so I put another drop on her head, petted her, and spoke words of comfort and blessing to her, and she calmed down the rest of the way. To God be the glory. - Crystal

20. My mom puts a drop of diluted Lavender under her tongue in the morning. It has worked great for her allergies. - Reesa

21. My son has frequent nose bleeds. I remember reading somewhere that Lavender EO helps stop nose bleeds. The past couple of times his nose started bleeding, I rubbed a little lavender EO on the sides of his nose, and it literally stopped the bleeding within about a minute or so. LOVE that!!! Amazing! - Jennifer D.

22. I use Lavender for my children's allergies. I have put a diluted drop on my finger and put it at the roof of their mouths. It does give them relief. I also have done it on the toes of their feet, chest, back and nose. We were out at a camp out, and my adult friend was having an allergy flare up. She put a drop of Respiratory Relief under her nose, and she felt worlds better. Her nose wasn't even red anymore. I think she was amazed. She had been very miserable. - Staci G.

23. I want to tell you about something else wonderful. Since I was a child, every 3 years or so I have had to have my ears irrigated, which was a major issue because the wax is so hard. Last time I had it done, about 5 years ago, the nurse told me: "No wonder you have trouble. The tubes in your ears are at angles instead of curves." All this time I thought I was normal! I finally got so much pressure and couldn't hear at all and knew I had to make an appointment. I had been taking a drop of diluted Lavender under my tongue when the Timothy is in pollen. When I lived in Canada, I rode on the front of the swather inhaling all the pollen and have been highly allergic to it ever since. Just inhaling a whiff of Lavender made me oblivious to it. The day I was to make my appointment, I was impressed to use my husband's little rubber bulb which he fills with water to clean his ears. I couldn't believe what happened. Each ear produced a plug of wax as big and hard as my son's ear plugs he buys to cut the noise so he can sleep! It has to be the Lavender! I am so thankful for the divine wisdom you share with us in making these oils available, and to our Creator Who knows how to maintain us if we listen. - Kathie T.

24. We have been applying Lavender after almost every swim. Massage on the exterior front and back of the ear. All three of my children had swimmer's ear bad/frequently last year from swimming almost every day. This year they've been swimming about as much, but they've not had even a hint of swimmers ear. When I've used it for earaches, I can feel the pain/pressure dropping. - Rita R.

25. I had a musty smell in my room, so I used a few drops of Lavender oil in water and sprayed it all around the room and the pillows. Now it smells great. I love to walk in the room with no musty smell. I also spray to avoid mosquitoes that sometimes sneak in, and I apply it on my skin to keep bugs away. It’s awesome stuff. Happy camper! - Nora

26. Lavender neat on the outside of my nose helped with one of the worst nosebleeds I'd ever had. I used to get a heavy nosebleed every 1-2 months from my left nostril and since applying the Lavender one time during what I considered to be the "big one," I haven't had one since (4 months). I can't be sure, but I feel it shrank that vessel that was giving me problems. - Melanie

27. Thank you for previous suggestion on using Lavender for nosebleeds. Since your recommendation, I have used it on my son 3 times, and it has stopped the nosebleed almost immediately. What a blessing! - Jessica

28. My daughter called tonight and told me that she had grabbed a hot pot (right out of the stove), and her finger was burned. She told me she couldn't straighten her finger all the way, and she couldn't bend it all the way. She wanted to know what she should do for it. I told her I would be right over. I started praying, and I grabbed my Lavender oil, raw honey, aloe vera juice and shea butter and went to her house. When I got there I wet her finger very generously with the Lavender oil. Within a few minutes, she was out of pain, could bend and straighten her finger and went about her business of cleaning the kitchen (while I played with my grandbabies and helped get her babies ready for bed). I never even used the other things I brought to her. I told her to apply Lavender before bed and maybe coat with honey to hold it in and help heal it. She was pretty amazed. I did the same thing for my husband recently when he burned his finger on hot metal fresh out of the fire. I did use the aloe and shea butter on him too, but now I know I probably didn't need to. Praise God for these oils, and thank you Linda for your work. - Cammy

29. When my toddler dumped a freshly poured cup of HOT coffee on himself, we rinsed him off under cold water and applied Lavender to his whole body. Within an hour he didn't even have a pinkness to his skin anymore. I used it undiluted because it was the fastest I had available and he was crying so hard. I just put a few drops in my hand and started applying to his arms and chest, adding more as needed. He was a bit relaxed from all the lavender though! - Sheri

30. Lavender saved my day when I burned my arm on the iron. I doused the area with Lavender and only had to repeat application a couple of times to totally calm down the inflammation. The next morning it was hard to tell where I'd been burned. - Katie

31. I put a drop of Lavender oil in my liquid concealer that I use for dark circles under my eyes. It works well until mid afternoon. - Tammy

32. I love Lavender for burns. I burned the back of my hand on the hot oven door today, and while it wasn't a terrible burn, it did hurt badly. Lavender to the rescue and no more pain! - Tammy

33. I had a 2nd degree burn not to long ago and used Lavender. I had no pain. It stays in my kitchen! - Teresa

34. We have been using Lavender on our toddler before bed. He was waking daily and fighting us from six AM, whining all morning. He now is sleeping until seven or eight and is a bit sunnier. Lavender is also perfect for first aid and bruises. Peppermint is a great pick me up and is excellent for pain, headaches, congestion or for stomach issues. I think every house should have those. - Connie

35. Lavender testimony! Indoor air quality in our moldy house has been really bad the last week. I'm sitting here and am just about driven crazy with the itching eyes and nose that come with my allergy to mold spores. I put a drop of my ever faithful Lavender oil under my tongue, and within about 10 minutes the itching eyes and nose are much better. I love my Lavender oil! - Tammy

36. I am so thankful for the information contributed to the HEO community through testimonies. When I was newly pregnant, I read about Lavender helping a woman with preterm contractions and bleeding. She recommended mixing a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil with a couple of drops of Lavender. When I started experiencing similar symptoms, I followed this recommendation with some help, but not complete resolution. As I was praying about it (really pleading for the life of my unborn child!), the Lord graciously brought to mind that I'd read that some women apply the oils to help their monthly cramps to the insides of their ankles. So I began applying the Lavender to my ankles as well as my abdomen. I experienced instant relief from my preterm pains, and I'm now applying it 1-2 times a day or more as needed with what I feel are good results. Thank you so much Linda for making this site available as a resource to us, and thank you to everyone who contributes by sharing your testimonies! - Adrienne

37. Lavender worked great for us as an alternative to Benadryl when my daughter had hives. I use coconut oil as a carrier oil just because I prefer thicker consistency. I am guessing any carrier oil would work. I didn't measure exactly the dilution ratio - maybe 10 drops per Tbsp? I put couple tablespoons of coconut oil and some Lavender oil in a small glass jar and just kept re-applying when my daughter started getting itchy again. It was amazing to see how fast the itching stopped and the hives disappeared. My daughter is 3, and I think her hives were a reaction to a virus - she battled it twice in the past year - Alexandra

38. I have indoor/outdoor allergies, and this season is the worse. Over the past 25 years I have been dealing with a cough and take antihistamines 2x daily. I was looking at Lavender, which I have yours, and I tried an experiment. I delayed taking my pill and put Lavender on my chest and throat. Within 5 minutes the cough had STOPPED! Needless to say I smell like a field of Lavender:) I am hoping that I won't have to take so many pills for allergies. I will keep you posted but just had to tell you. - Caryl

39. I cannot sing the praises of HEO's enough! My daughter had a spider bite that looked very much like the bite of a brown recluse. Having been bitten by one when I was younger, I knew that the traditional method of care was antibiotics. I've been using Lavender for the past few days, and it is almost completely healed! Thank you so much - I love my HEO's! - Teresa

40. At first I thought it was coincidence, but the 3x that I have sprayed Lavender on my husband's pillow before bed he has not snored at all! This is HUGE since I end up in the guest room almost every night because he is so loud. Thank you!! - Dawn

41. I have used Lavender along with a low sodium diet, and it has helped my pregnancy-related high blood pressure. In fact, my last appointment my blood pressure was in the normal range. I dilute the Lavender with fractionated Coconut oil and apply it to my wrists, the inside of my ankles and over my heart. I have also put it on the bottoms of my feet and on the vein in my neck when my blood pressure has spiked. This may be overkill, but it works. - Emily

42. Praise -- We've been using HEO's Lavender on one of my sons for night terrors. We are seeing a HUGE improvement. We apply it on the back of his neck and do so at least 30 minutes before his bed time. We have found it not as successful if we apply it less than 30 minutes before bed. - Kim

43. I want to share a praise/testimonial. Last week, my oven stopped working properly. I would turn it on to 350F, and my oven thermometer was reading over 600F. I thought calibrating the knob would help, so I pulled it from the pin and, forgetting to turn the oven off before doing do, silly me reached for the metal knob pin with my bare hands and burned my index finger and thumb. The skin was singed black, and I immediately ran them under cold water. After running water on them, I was still in a lot of pain so I applied one drop of the Lavender oil, neat, to my index finger and rubbed the oil between it and my thumb. It burned for about thirty seconds, but afterward I felt no pain whatsoever. By the end of the day, there was no blistering. There wasn't even a red spot on my thumb and finger. I was praising the Lord and so grateful to Ms. Linda and Hopewell Essential Oils for providing these products that are healing to the body. - Jennifer

44. I am LOVING my Hopewell EOils! Especially the Lavender. I use it for my chronic allergies - one drop neat under the tongue daily. I have completely gone off my very expensive allergy prescription! I also had a fever blister to come up, so I used a drop of Lavender neat on it about 5 times a day, and it dried up within 3 days! - Nancy

45. Lavender is great for fever blisters. I mix some in shea butter and use daily for prevention. I got lazy about it and felt my lip tickling today. I put some Lavender on it and then put some on my tongue. It never did break out. The grandbabies and I have been fighting off a respiratory virus and this is when I am most vulnerable to the blisters. Balsam Fir works great for fever blisters too. I LOVE Hopewell oils. - Cammy

46. I was able to keep my poison ivy under control with Lavender. It didn't go away immediately, but it didn't spread or get worse. I've heard that Fells Naphtha soap used w/ cold water right after exposure, keeps it away, but I haven't tried it myself. I was very pleased with the Lavender, as usually I get it full force! - Bev

47. I found another great use for Lavender. I have an 85 lb dog who is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. Last night when the fireworks started up, he started breathing heavily and trembling. I couldn't get him calmed down. I finally tried applying 2 drops of Lavender on the tips of his ears, and sure enough, he calmed right down. - Sarah

48. A friend of mine had a skin cancer removed from his face and someone gave him a tiny bottle of Lavender. A few weeks later I had to look carefully to see where the stitches had been. Another friend had one removed from her hand - a deep, 2" cut. I gave her some Lavender, and she's also delighted with the healing. (Note: Both of them waited until the stitches were out to use the oils.) I've also used Lavender on small cuts and scrapes that didn't need stitches. It took away pain, inflammation and healed with no scarring. - Teresa

49. I've used both Lavender and Peaceful (on separate occasions) on my Schnauzer for fear of thunder, and both have worked quite well. I try to apply it to our dog well before the storm hits because even the change in barometric pressure sends her into a tizzy. - Nikki

50. Lavender will stop wasp stings immediately per getting stung several times. - Jennifer

51. I suffered a major allergy attack the other night and started coughing and wheezing (the cough was actually painful). I applied Lavender to the bottom of my feet, and within a couple of minutes, my symptoms subsided! So thankful for these oils! - Julie

52. I am so blessed to have found you all! I am so amazed with essential oils!! God created a wonderful natural healer! Wish I had been taught about them years ago! In the last 2 years, I haven't had to take any child to the Dr except for an arm to be x-rayed. I have a child that with every cold or flu, a double ear infection would set in. But now, we use the Ear-B-Well blend and no ear infections!! We may still get colds and flu, but the secondary infections are taken care of by your wonderful essential oils you sell. But by far, my husband was totally won over last year. He suffers from ragweed season. His pillow by morning would be totally drenched from his nose draining all night! Yuck! He also suffered with sneezing spells and the itchy eyes! For years he has tried taking all the OC meds, shots every season (which was beginning to only last a couple of weeks!), diphenhydramine (which makes him drowsy, so he can't take that during the day), even prescription drugs, so he was open to using EO's! He puts 2 drops (sometimes only 1 is needed) of Lavender under his tongue (holding it for a minute under the tongue to allow the oil to be absorbed) in the morning before going outside or heading to work. If he needs it during the day, he will do another dose. On his way home he will dose up, because we live on a farm there is an overabundance of this horrible weed! Praise the Lord, we found something that doesn't make him tired, drowsy or have to take harsh chemicals!! So we are using the same protocol this year and it's working!! - Lynn

53. When my 9 month old got Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, I put 4 drops of Lavender in 2oz of coconut oil and applied it after bath lotion, concentrating on my son's feet where most of the blisters are. Today there are no new blisters appearing, and the current ones are drying up! Thanking God for these wonderful oils! - Tina

54. I'm happy to report that my son's cold or allergies cleared up within 3 days! I used 1% Lavender on his chest a couple times a day and Lung Support 1% a couple times per day on his feet. Last year it seemed like his colds/allergy bouts would last at least ten days. - Rachel

55. I have had great success with Frankincense for high blood pressure and Pain X and Regeneration for back pain. I use the Frankincense topically, diluted 2:1 and apply it on the bottom of feet, over the heart, on the left wrist, on the sides of the neck on either side of the spine, behind the ears, and also inhale from the bottle. I also use Lavender on the bottoms of feet, behind the ears and at the back of the neck, as well as Serenity behind the ears before bedtime. I have just recently added Adagio, using 1 drop on the wrist. Occasionally I will use Circulation over the heart and a bit on the bottom of feet. I have had great success with regulating blood pressure this way. Frankincense, Circulation and Lavender will lower blood pressure in minutes. I also use L-arginine and L-citrulline, amino acids, nitric oxide precursers, that works like a blood pressure medication, but without the side affects. Different amounts are required for each person. I love your oils! They are of superior quality and I recommend them to everyone. God bless you in your endeavors! Thank you for your prompt service. - Cindy Parker, BND, NBC Sclerologist

56. Sensitization: For some reason, after using Lavender for 3 years right out of the bottle without having to add a carrier oil, I have now become allergic to it, including blends with Lavender in it. I get a bad, itchy rash and start to peel. I can use it on my feet but no where else. Lavender has always been my favorite go to oil. - Sheila [HEO's comment: This is called "sensitization." This is why we feel it's important to dilute essential oils - we want to avoid this! Sensitization is technically an allergic reaction of the immune system, and this reaction can be noticed in places other than where you applied the oil. Traditional dilution of the oils typically helps us avoid sensitization.]

57. Last September, we were vacationing in Myrtle Beach. September is a pretty bad time of year for jellyfish in that area and it was after Labor Day, so no lifeguards were on duty to put out warning flags. I heard a 10-year-old girl come to the pool area of our condo crying pretty loudly. I learned she had been stung pretty badly by a couple jellyfish. Because there were no lifeguards on duty (they usually have jellyfish sting medication in their first aid kits), no one on staff and none of the parents knew what to do for her. I always travel with my most basic oils, so as soon as I found out, I ran up to my room to get my go-to "first aid" blend, which is equal parts Lavender and Tea Tree oil with about a 25% dilution of FCO. I found the mom and told her she needed to use this oil. She was a RN and had no idea how to help the swelling and pain. The girl instantly felt better, and the swelling went down within an hour. About an hour after that incident, I got a phone call in my room because another little boy had gotten stung and the first family told them they needed to find "the lady with the jellyfish stuff." The father of this little boy came back to me and told me that his son instantly stopped screaming and crying as soon as the oil hit his skin. The sting left instantly. The little boy came to me and hugged me twice to thank me for helping him. There was not even a red mark on his belly where he was stung when he left. They both also said there was no itching after the sting went away. - Kim

58. I have always been allergic to Lavender products. I thought, "If I don't break out from Hopewell Lavender, then I'll know her stuff is good." Gladly, I lathered it on and had no breakouts. Halleluyah! - LaJoan

59. The other day I was making pancakes. Some of the cooked batter was on the spatula and for some reason, I decided it would be a great idea to eat that batter off of the spatula... the problem is that it had just been touching the hot griddle... really? Ugh, I burned the tip of my tongue and my lip. My daughter rushed to get the Lavender, and I applied it neat to my tongue and lip. After an hour or so, the pain was gone. I then used the Lip Renew Lavender on my lips, and by the next morning, there was no pain on my tongue or lip. The lip did scab and peel, but it could have been so much worse. — feeling grateful. - Stacy

60. On our wedding anniversary a couple weeks ago my husband got severely sunburned. His skin was so white prior on his back, and he stayed out in the sun longer than he realized detailing my car and came in looking like a purplish-pink lobster. I put about 15 drops of Lavender and some carrier oil on his back and applied it a couple times a day for 3 days. On the fourth day, his back simply looked tan. And, though it's hard to believe, HE NEVER PEELED. I'm so thankful for God and Hopewell and essential oils and wisdom to use them. I'm pretty taken aback and VERY appreciative. - Kathryn

61. Last night I broke my big toe on my right foot. I dropped a very heavy glass plate on it and broke the skin and it bled.. I put Lavender oil on it fast, and it quickly killed the pain. I applied Lavender oil on it every couple of hours. This morning I awoke to hardly any bruising and pain. I love your oils; they are wonderful. - Vicki

62. Normally I am very careful to apply sunscreen while on the beach, but for some reason this trip I failed to apply lip sunscreen and somehow missed applying enough sunscreen to the very sensitive area on my chest close to my underarms (right where the swimsuit straps begin). I ended up getting VERY burnt on my lips and at the armpit area where a sleeveless blouse or tank would rub. Needless to say, it was VERY painful! That evening I decided to mix some Lavender with my coconut oil and apply it to the burnt areas. I was astonished at what happened next. The pain immediately WENT AWAY!! (not just eased!!) That relief lasted about 4 hours, and then I had to reapply. Also a lot of the redness disappeared. I had no discomfort from the burn. I had packed only sleeveless blouses, which could have created extreme discomfort rubbing against the burned area. But as long as I kept the Lavender/Coconut oil applied, there was no pain. I am so very thankful to have discovered this remedy for sunburn. Also, the skin did not blister as normally would happen, although it did eventually peel. - April

63. My daughter's ears clogged due to the pressure change when flying recently. Unfortunately, the equilibrium did not fully restore upon landing nor several hours later. Her pain level was fairly high, and I looked up oil recommendations to possibly resolve the situation. I applied Lavender behind her earlobe and left to prepare bedtime ritual. Twenty minutes later she said, "Mom I can hear you! And I have no more pain!" Thank you Lord! - Linda

64. Hopewell Lavender oil was a blessing to my 2-year-old daughter. She had yeast on her bottom and in her mouth. I applied Lavender and coconut oil on her bottom and it was improved within a day and was completely better in a week. For her mouth, I applied a drop of Lavender directly to tongue, and after 4-5 uses, it was completely cleared! - Emily

65. I burned my hand on the handle of a pan after taking it out of the oven. It immediately started to blister and hurt pretty bad. After applying ice, I used a blend of Lavender and Cleansing and applied it multiple times throughout the evening and next day. Not only did it take the pain away, but it never blistered completely, and it healed from the inside. In less than 48 hours, you would never be able to tell that there was a burn there! - Amy

66. A couple of weeks ago our 10-pound Maltese had an infected anal gland, and the vet had to lance it and put her on antibiotics and pain/antiinflammatory meds. Toward the end of the week of meds I noticed that the skin was still pretty red and not healed looking, so I put Lavender on it for a day or two, and it healed very quickly! Amazing oils! - Maggie

67. I was using your Lavender oil in aromatherapy during my daughter's delivery in a hospital. This progressive hospital is heavily into EOs and very familiar with their use. Everyone in the room (hospital staff + 4 people) were just blown away by the quality of your Lavender oil. They went on and on about the scent, and I was so proud to tell them about your products. - Barbara

68. My adult daughter was badly sunburned last summer. Her face partly swelled (sun poisoning) and her forehead looked like it was going to scar. She applied Lavender oil and within a week it had cleared and she has no scarring. - Roberta

69. I have been so enjoying your oils! They are amazing! I have been trying lots of things to get rid of pinkeye. I applied diluted Lavender around my eyes and it cleared up in no time at all! - Alice

70. I've gotten rid of folliculitis with Frankincense and Lavender! I mixed them both with Grapeseed oil in a roller ball. - Kimberly

71. I just used Lavender and Arnica oil on a swollen knee I injured when I fell in the driveway. The swelling went down almost immediately. - Julia

72. I recently moved into a new apartment and noticed that my eyes often feel “agitated” when I wake up in the morning (the only time I’m in my room is to sleep). I tried to see if anything could cause my allergies to flare up, and I couldn’t find any culprit. I started diffusing Lavender and Plaugue Defense at night, and I don’t have puffy, itchy eyes in the morning now! - Haley

73. I have been using Frankincense frereana/carterii and Lavender to help my blood pressure to come down. If my blood pressure is high, sometimes I will put a couple drops in my bath and it will help lower my blood pressure every time! - Rhonda

74. I had foot surgery and my doctor prescribed an antibiotic cream to apply to my foot that had terrible potential side effects, one of them being death. My daughter is a customer of yours and she suggested that I used Lavender and Lemongrass instead. I faithfully applied Vitamin E cream with a couple of drops of each oil to my foot. I just wanted you to know that my foot healed wonderfully! - Paulette

75. I gave my mother-in-law some Lavender and Cleansing for a sore she had on her leg a few months ago. It worked well in healing her skin at the time. Yesterday she boiled some caramel sauce in the microwave, and when she took it out of the microwave, it spilled all over her hand.  (Yes, I know, for the record, should anybody have a microwave ... but that's another topic.) It was extremely hot and it hurt badly, but she wanted to clean up the mess before treating it. She was convinced that it would blister and bleed since it was very painful. She remembered the Lavender and Cleansing and put it on her hand several times. Within two applications, she said it wasn't painful. The pain did wake her in the night though, so she put more on when it woke her. Today, she said she used it often. When she spoke to us this evening, she told us it wasn't even red. No blisters, no pain - we are all thrilled! - Robin

Safety
Lavender is considered non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing.

Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Essential oils are both lipophilic and hydrophobic. Lipophilic means they are attracted to fat—like the membranes of your eyes and skin. They are also hydrophobic, meaning they do not like water. Flushing with water will only send the essential oil back to the eye's membranes. Applying a carrier oil will create another fat for the essential oil to be attracted to other than the membranes of the eyes or skin. We’ve not known this to cause permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your health care provider.
