Fresh Lemon Juice and Himalayan Salt: A mixture of lemon juice and Himalayan crystal salt may be the key to stopping a migraine in its tracks. At the first sign of a headache, combine the juice and zest of one lemon and two teaspoons of Himalayan crystal salt in a glass of water that is at room temperature. To get the best results, use organic lemons and high-quality Himalayan crystal salt. You should feel your headache start to ease within just a few minutes after drinking the entire glass. According to Healthy Wild and Free, the majority of headaches can be attributed to dehydration and mineral and electrolyte imbalances. Himalayan crystal salt provides the body with electrolytes and over 84 different minerals while the water restores the body’s fluid balance. There are many health benefits of lemons and they’re loaded with vitamins and can serve as a natural detoxifying agent by promoting proper liver function so that it can remove toxins from the body more efficiently, which can aid in clearing headache symptoms.

Many health-care providers believe that the vast majority of migraine headaches may be due to colon congestion or poor digestion. Migraines may occur when the body pH is excessively high. Raw fruit, vegetables and nuts may help balance pH.

pH Balance Tonic (drink daily)
1 TB Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (use the organic, raw, unfiltered)
1 TB Local Raw Honey (if local honey is not available, then at least use raw - unprocessed)
1 Cup pure Water
Also consider adding:
grated fresh ginger
wedge of lemon
pinch of cayenne

Application Suggestions (See Essential Oil Usage for more information and a Dilution Chart.)
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oilunscented lotion or unscented cream and apply on area of concern or as desired. Consider using a roll-on applicator for ease of application of prediluted oil. To avoid skin irritation, dilute with a carrier oil at no more than 25% and apply on temples, forehead and brain stem (back of neck at skull). Some feel it helps to massage on thumbs and big toes for headaches and migraines.

Children: Do not use on or near the face of young children. Peppermint is best to avoid with children under 3 years of age. Diffuse with care (about 2 drops) around 3 to 6-year-old children and limit topical application to 0.5%. Consider HEO's Ouch! Gentle Blend. Please follow the Dilution Chart on the Babies and Children page.

Inhalation: Diffuse or use a personal Nasal Inhaler

Internal: Migraine Relief is suitable for internal use within safe parameters if such use is deemed appropriate. We feel that internal use is rarely *needed* and should only be used with respect for how concentrated the oils are. HEO does not advocate internal use of essential oils without appropriate knowledge and understanding of how to administer, for what purpose, how much, which essential oils, safety concerns and so on. In our experience, essential oils are generally more effective used topically with proper dilution or inhaled. Kurt Schnaubelt Ph.D. notes that "French aromatherapy literature contains many references to using oils orally." He goes on to note that "generally 1 drop is always enough when ingesting essential oils." A potential toxicity hazard could occur when untrained people use essential oils orally and ingest too much. Keep in mind that while medical doctors or health care practitioners may prescribe essential oils for internal use, they are trained and experienced in the safe application of essential oils. It is not a matter of using "French" or "British" methods, it's a matter of experience and appropriate application. Due to Peppermint, the maximum daily oral adult dose is 25 drops.

1. I have battled frequent migraine headaches for years, and this blend used, especially at the onset, usually keeps them a bay, or at least keeps them from becoming severe.

2. I have taken Advil for years due to migraine headaches. Today my boss asked me to try your Migraine Relief blend. After 3 days of battling a migraine, my headache was gone in just a moment. ~ L.M.B.

3. I have referred several people to you, and I need to request more business cards, as I have given all that I had away. I love Migraine Relief blend and have had only one headache that it didn't help. I have shared the oil with many people, and the headache that I had this week was the only one of the group that wasn't cleared up. Great product! - Julie

4. My 6-year-old son had his very first ear infection as a result of bad allergies. We had been using Respiratory Relief for his congestion, which worked well, but he was having a lot of pain in his ear. I looked at the Ear-B-Well blend to see if I had anything similar on hand. I did have a few of the single oils, but I saw that some I was missing were in the Migraine Relief. I had purchased a sample of that to try for my migraines, so I used a drop of that to massage around his ears. He was pain free within minutes and infection free by the next morning! We are still using RR for congestion. - Cindi

5. I just wanted to thank for your research on the oils and the help you bring to families. I usually have strong headaches, and I have been told by the doctor that they are migranes. Let me tell you how blessed and happy I have felt to have Migrane Relief, because even though I still have to take Advil, when I get my headaches, Migrane Relief aids with the process within 10 to 15 minutes, then it's gone. Last night I got a pretty bad migraine, one unlike I never had before in the back of the head and really strong, so I applied Arctic Ice on my neck and head and Migrane Relief on my forehead and behind the ears. Boy did they help!! Thanks a million for this blessing . Our best wishes to you and your family. God bless. - Sandra C.

6. I have had success with the Migraine Relief for migraines whereas Peppermint and Headache Relief didn't work for me. I simply put it on the temples, back of the neck and breathed it in. I have also used it in the tub, which is amazing! I just have to catch it in the early stages. On a camping trip a few weekends ago, someone mentioned Quercetin for headaches. I don't know much about it and haven't checked that out yet :-) - Lora S.

7. I accidentally ordered 2 Migraine Reliefs recently from HEO, so I emailed HEO to see what else it might be useful for (because thankfully I don't get migraines often enough to use 2 bottles of Migraine Relief up in a very long time!) Linda wrote back and said I could return it, no problem, or she said I could try it for sore joints and muscles. I wasn't interested in returning it since there's a lot of great oils in this blend, so I've been using it for my neck aches and lower back. It's very beneficial, so now my two bottles might not be enough! :-) - Leslie

8. Our 7-year-old son fell backwards in his chair and hit his head pretty hard. Within a few minutes he got very sleepy. We kept trying to keep him awake, but he kept crying and falling asleep repeatedly. I was very concerned about a concussion! I brought him to the table for his dinner, hoping that would wake him up or help somehow. Then I thought to run to the oils. I didn’t know what might help, but I thought maybe I should try Migraine Relief. I put it undiluted on the back of his neck and behind his ears. Literally within less than a minute he stopped crying, stopped falling asleep and started eating his dinner normally! Of course, I can’t repeat this scenario to test it again, so I can’t be 100% sure, but it sure seemed like the Migraine Relief helped immensely! He had no other trouble after that. Thank you, Lord! - Katy

9. My husband has had occular migraines. No pain, but he sees a kaleidoscope pattern, short time memory loss and feels bad the next day. Not any more!!! Migraine Relief hasn't stopped the frequency of them coming on, but stops the severity in their tracks with no after effects! - Patti

10. I felt like I tried everything for my migraines and nothing worked... that is until I started using the Migraine Relief oil. God totally used the oils to bring me relief! I am so thankful for His healing. - Marie

11. Migraine Relief works great for me. I just breathe it 10 times right out of the bottle. It takes some time to work, but usually a few hours later I realize that I am pain free. - Lana
[HEO Comment: Consider using a Nasal Inhaler.]

12. Migraine Relief works very well for me! I dilute it with coconut oil and apply it everywhere it hurts, usually the side of my head, my temples, my forehead and whatever is left I apply to the back of my neck. - Jennifer

13. Well finally I found a headache formula that works for me!! Some people say lavender or peppermint works for them, but most of my headaches appear to be hormonal and those oils can't even touch the massive two-day headaches I was getting. I got Migraine Relief from Hopewell and I could tell from its ingredients that is designed to assist with whatever kind of cause for a headache, whether allergy, hormones, nerves etc. It's a phenomenal product!! I applied it to my wrist at the first sign of a doozy headache, inhaled 6 times, and took 2 Tylenol. Instead of continuing into a two-day monster headache, it went away! This happened twice! See all these exclamation points? They mean business!! I hope the Hopewell team feels great because you guys spared me considerable pain by offering your product. While it's true that Tylenol helped too, before your oil, Tylenol wasn't enough to assist much and the headache endured for days instead of leaving me alone after a first dose, like Migraine Relief made happen for me. To anyone experiencing headaches, carry your remedy with you. At the first sign of a headache, begin whatever treatment as soon as possible. It's hard to undo a raging headache that is already out of control. I had discussed these headaches with my doctor before and had bloodwork done. Anyone who has severe head pain should discuss it with your doctor, especially if nothing is working. Here's hoping Migraine Relief eases you out of pain as it did for me!! ~ Christina

14. I have sufferered with hormonal migraines for years and used Migraine Relief undiluted on my forehead above my eyebrows, and it completely resolved my migraines! I realize I should not use it undiluted. and now I diffuse it at night, which has made a big difference. - Ruth

Safety
Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Essential oils are both lipophilic and hydrophobic. Lipophilic means they are attracted to fat— like the membranes of your eyes and skin. They are also hydrophobic, meaning they do not like water. Applying a carrier oil will create another fat for the essential oil to be attracted to other than the membranes of the eyes or skin. Tisserand suggests: "With essential oils, fatty oil has been suggested as an appropriate first aid treatment, though the advantage of saline [eyewash] is that the eyes can be continually flushed, and this is less easy with fatty oil.” We are not aware of a case where essential oil in the eyes caused permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your health care provider.
