Application Suggestions (See Essential Oil Usage for more information and a Dilution Chart.)
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oilunscented lotion or unscented cream and apply on area of concern or as desired. Consider using a roll-on applicator for ease of application of prediluted oil.

Since Liberate does not have a limiting dilution parameter, we suggest that adults follow the General Guidelines found on the Dilution Chart, which is:
2-3% for daily application
Up to 25% for short-term use

Children: For infants and children, please follow the Dilution Chart on the Babies and Children page.

Inhalation: Diffuse or use a personal Nasal Inhaler

Internal: Liberate is suitable for internal use within safe parameters if such use is deemed appropriate. We feel that internal use is rarely *needed* and should only be used with respect for how concentrated the oils are. HEO does not advocate internal use of essential oils without appropriate knowledge and understanding of how to administer, for what purpose, how much, which essential oils, safety concerns and so on. In our experience, essential oils are generally more effective used topically with proper dilution or inhaled. Kurt Schnaubelt Ph.D. notes that "French aromatherapy literature contains many references to using oils internally." He goes on to note that "generally 1 drop is always enough when ingesting essential oils." A potential toxicity hazard could occur when untrained people use essential oils orally and ingest too much. Keep in mind that while medical doctors or health care practitioners may prescribe essential oils for internal use, they are trained and experienced in the safe application of essential oils. It is not a matter of using "French aromatherapy" or "British" methods, it's a matter of experience and appropriate application. Click here for information about internal usage.

1. I have dealt with anxiety from PTSD [Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder] many years and have found little that really helps. Herbal formulas and prayer help somewhat. I started using Peaceful during the day (and at night for insomnia), along with Liberate, Potential and Sunshine. This has made a huge difference! I am calmer, more grounded and in a better frame of mind almost immediately after applying any of these oils. I like the little roll-on-applicator and keep one in my pocket at all times. Just a little under the nose or behind my ears on on my brain stem helps. Sometimes all I need to do is inhale deeply and utter silent prayers to get grounded again. - J.T.

2. I have been diagnosed with PTSD [Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder], so I ordered Liberate blend. This has helped me so much. I apply it to the bottoms of my feet, temples and wrists several times daily and before bed. At first, there were times it seemed to aggravate me and kept me from sleeping, which left me more fragmented feeling the next day, but overall, I can tell it (and prayer) is helping me to slowly "release" the scars from traumatic things in my past. At first I had to be careful to only use it when I felt emotionally able to deal with some aggravation. That has improved slowly over time, and I have hope that I will be able to pull out of this dark hole.

3. I ordered Adagio, Liberate, Mental Stimulation, and Strength. A close family member has suffered depression for most of his life. This year has been the worst with tons of manic episodes, uncontrolled emotions and general depression. We tried the Mental Stimulation last night on his feet, and he wasn't able to sleep, but he did rest more than he has all week! This morning he woke up and asked what oil to try. He put on Adigio and Liberate. I got a text a few hours later. He's hopeful! He knows that prayer and oils are helping. This HUGE in our home. So thankful for this product, this company and those that share so others can know what to try. God is so good!!!!! - Kristi

4. One drop of Liberate oil topically helps me in my grief. It is calming and relaxing and brings a smile to my face. Thank you! - Jennifer

5. Thank you so much for your Liberate blend! I diffused it last night and it was heavenly! I don't think I have relaxed like that in YEARS. I slept better, and was able to deal much better with being awakened a few times by our toddler. Thank you!! - Vicky

6. I just recently started using Liberate for severe anxiety. I love it and it works well, but I can barely stand the smell since it contains Valerian. Is there anything I can mix with it besides a carrier oil that would cut down the smell, but also be beneficial for anxiety? Thanks! - Stephaine

Safety
Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Essential oils are both lipophilic and hydrophobic. Lipophilic means they are attracted to fat— like the membranes of your eyes and skin. They are also hydrophobic, meaning they do not like water. Flushing with water will only send the essential oil back to the eye's membranes. Applying a carrier oil will create another fat for the essential oil to be attracted to other than the membranes of the eyes or skin. Tisserand suggests: "With essential oils, fatty oil has been suggested as an appropriate first aid treatment, though the advantage of saline [eyewash] is that the eyes can be continually flushed, and this is less easy with fatty oil." We’ve not known this to cause permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your health care provider.
