Application Suggestions (See Essential Oil Usage for more information and a dilution chart.)
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oilunscented lotion or unscented cream and apply on area of concern or as desired. Consider using a roll-on applicator for ease of application of prediluted oil. To avoid skin irritation risk with Ylang Ylang, the maximum topical use is 4%. Some wear as they would a perfume. Men and women like this as a perfume/cologne.

Children: Use caution topically with children under 2 years of age. For children over 2, please follow the Dilution Chart on the Babies and Children page.

Inhalation: Diffuse or use a personal Nasal Inhaler

Internal: Mountian Top is suitable for internal use within safe parameters if such use is deemed appropriate. We feel that internal use is rarely *needed* and should only be used with respect for how concentrated the oils are. HEO does not advocate internal use of essential oils without appropriate knowledge and understanding of how to administer, for what purpose, how much, which essential oils, safety concerns and so on. In our experience, essential oils are generally more effective used topically with proper dilution or inhaled. Kurt Schnaubelt Ph.D. notes that "French aromatherapy literature contains many references to using oils orally." He goes on to note that "generally 1 drop is always enough when ingesting essential oils." A potential toxicity hazard could occur when untrained people use essential oils orally and ingest too much. Keep in mind that while medical doctors or health care practitioners may prescribe essential oils for internal use, they are trained and experienced in the safe application of essential oils. It is not a matter of using "French aromatherapy" or "British" methods, it's a matter of experience and appropriate application.

1. When "cedar fever" hits our area, I use Mountain Top and it stops the unrelenting sneezing and watery eyes almost immediately. When I have this on, people frequently comment on how nice it smells! - L.L.

2. I bought Mountain Top and while diffusing thought: "Hmmm what does this remind me of???" (Grounding by YL) I love my Mountain Top. It has a wonderful crispness and adds a freshiness to the air. Both blends are nice, but I diffuse Mountain Top way more often. - Melanie

3. I would love to have an endless supply of Mountain Top to diffuse all day... hmmm. Amazing!  My husband really appreciates all the oils but hasn’t really been one to comment on their fragrances, but on the first day diffusing Mountain Top, as soon as he walked in he said, “Hmmm, this is beautiful! I really like this blend.” I put it in an inhaler for him as well and he really likes to use it as he works throughout the day. Recently I made a powder with this blend for my parents who like to use powders, especially since as missionaries and live in a hot, humid climate. My mom loves this powder and thinks it smells beautiful. She said it should be marketed. She used it on a rash that broke out on my dad, and she said the raw flesh was completely healed overnight. Mountain Top is marvelous! Thank you once again for your incredibly wonderful service! - Faith

Mountian Top Powder
2 parts White Cosmetic Clay/White Kaolin Clay
1 part Arrowroot Powder
15-20 drops of Mountain Top
Mix all carefully together in a small bowl and spoon into a powder container. I repurposed a small glass spice bottle with a sprinkle cap, which works nicely.

3. Mountain Top helps calm my very agitated 2 year old who was born drug and alcohol affected. - Britta

4. Mountain Top is one of my very favorite blends; It has a wonderful aroma! - Alicia
Safety
Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Essential oils are both lipophilic and hydrophobic. Lipophilic means they are attracted to fat— like the membranes of your eyes and skin. They are also hydrophobic, meaning they do not like water. Applying a carrier oil will create another fat for the essential oil to be attracted to other than the membranes of the eyes or skin. Tisserand suggests: "With essential oils, fatty oil has been suggested as an appropriate first aid treatment, though the advantage of saline [eyewash] is that the eyes can be continually flushed, and this is less easy with fatty oil.” We are not aware of a case where essential oil in the eyes caused permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your health care provider.
