Research
Vitamin B12 Fights Nerve Pain and Defends Your Heart and Brain by Dr. Diane Fulton for GreenMedinfo
Why Do Vitamin B12 Supplements Contain Cyanide? by Sayer, Ji with GreenMedinfo
"There is an entirely different approach to maintaining adequate vitamin B12 levels, namely, through increasing populations of natural, vitamin B12-producing beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus reuteri. There has also been research showing that dietary contributions of B12 versus cyanocobalamin are far superior.
Significant dietary sources of biologically active B12 include white button mushrooms, spirulina and chlorella. The ideal supplemental form of supplemental vitamin B12 is methylcobalamin, which while more expensive, is capable of absorbing sublingually and is cell-ready as a methyl donor. It should also be noted that the drug category known as proton pump inhibitors (acid blockers for reflux) prevent vitamin B12 absorption and microwaving food deactivates this vitamin, as well."

Application Suggestions (See Essential Oil Usage for more information and a Dilution Chart.)
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oilunscented lotion or unscented cream and apply on area of concern or as desired. Consider using a roll-on applicator for ease of application of prediluted oil. Maximum topical use limit is 2% due to Laural Leaf.

Children: Suitable for Children over age 2; do not apply on or near the face of children. Please follow the Dilution Chart on the Babies and Children page.

Inhalation: Diffuse or use a personal Nasal Inhaler

Internal: Nerv-Pang is suitable for internal use within safe parameters if such use is deemed appropriate. We feel that internal use is rarely *needed* and should only be used with respect for how concentrated the oils are. Due to Laurel Leaf, we suggest you limit oral use to 1 drop daily. HEO does not advocate internal use of essential oils without appropriate knowledge and understanding of how to administer, for what purpose, how much, which essential oils, safety concerns and so on. In our experience, essential oils are generally more effective used topically with proper dilution or inhaled. Kurt Schnaubelt Ph.D. notes that "French aromatherapy literature contains many references to using oils orally." He goes on to note that "generally 1 drop is always enough when ingesting essential oils." A potential toxicity hazard could occur when untrained people use essential oils orally and ingest too much. Keep in mind that while medical doctors or health care practitioners may prescribe essential oils for internal use, they are trained and experienced in the safe application of essential oils. It is not a matter of using "French aromatherapy" or "British" methods, it's a matter of experience and appropriate application.

1. I had back surgery that left my nerves very upset. A friend recommended that I contact Linda and have her blend up something for me. This blend hit the mark. Thanks!

2. I heard that to renew a nerve, the nerve needed to be a cooler temperature than the other tissue, so I used Peppermint. I had my husband rub it on my spine and bottoms of my feet twice daily. I especially massaged my big toes because the reflex for the pituitary gland is in the center of the big toe. The pituitary gland is responsible for making the chemical that keeps the muscles stretching and contracting. When it does not make enough of it, the muscles are unable to stretch out and contract normally. [HEO's Comment: The Nerv-Pang blend has a significant amount of Peppermint in it with supporting oils such as Laurel Leaf and Helichrysum.]

3. Nerv-Pang helped my son repair a severely damage tooth injury, and Grandma's strange foot pain. The list just goes on how they have helped us. Thank you! - Jacquelyn

4. First I feel so blessed my daughter found your website. She has corresponded with you several times and is using the Neuropathy and Nerv-Pang on my husband's feet with enormous success!! She is the one applying the oils and experimenting with the mixtures. Thank you so much. You have changed our lives. - Josephine

5. Nerv-Pang or Arctic Ice works great for my tennis elbow. - Donna

6. One of our 2 daughters with Lyme disease has found some relief from the joint aches and pains from Nerv-Pang. She says it works the best on smaller joints and that if it doesn’t work, then after about 20 minutes she adds Pain Repair on as well, and that usually does the trick to take the edge off of the pain. (Both are 20% diluted with Coconut Oil.) We are so thankful to the Lord for even a small amount of relief from Lyme disease symptoms! - Katy

7. I had to have a deep filling replaced and was in need of something to help the pain, and Nerv-Pang oil rubbed on my gum gave instant relief. My daughter uses Nerv-Pang oil to help with extreme pain in her neck. - Heather

8. I have knee pain. I use Deep Ease and add Nerv-Pang to it. I use Aloe Vera as a carrier. It brings relief. I purchased the spray also. It works very quickly after the spray. I don't take medication; I deal mainly with herbs and essential oils. - Mary

9. I totally loved Nerv-Pang when I tore my meniscus. :) - Brenda

10. ConnectEase wasn't what we expected, but it was incredible! I have Chronic Fatigue and Lupus, and when I ordered it I was expecting to primarily use it on me. I used it for a few days and it was helpful, however, I quickly passed it to my husband and he has finished the bottle with incredible results!
My husband is an electrician, so he crawls in attics and is on his knees a lot. Five years ago he had a baker's cyst that was huge and problematic. We got rid of it completely with oils from Hopewell. At the end of January while he was crawling through an attic he felt something go in his knee. He had pain and a baker's cyst from that moment on. We are thinking it is two separate things, but they aggravate each other. We started him on the oils for the baker's cyst, and they helped, but they didn't get rid of it.
Around mid-March we realized he needed medical help, but couldn't get it due to the virus event of 2020. His pain and discomfort would really vary. After talking with friends with knee issues and looking online he was wondering if he had a torn meniscus and on occasion the flap would go the wrong way and cause excruciating pain that disabled him completely. I recalled the Hopewell website saying previously people had relief using Nerv-Pang oil for torn meniscus, so I had him try that about the time ConnectEase arrived. He used it a couple days and then I had him try the new ConnectEase at 25% in a roll-on applicator as well. Within a couple days his knee was doing considerably better; the best it had been since January!
He has kept on with ConnectEase instead of Nerve Pain and has been doing great! Before he started on it he was trying to get a doctor’s appointment and was thinking he would have to have surgery! We have been simply amazed at what this oil blend has done for him. We realize that you use oils for their properties and not choose them for their fragrance, but we both enjoy the smell of this blend as well.  I will be ordering more. I want to be able to try it on a longer stretch, and he still needs it for his knee. We are very impressed and hope you keep this blend around!  Thank you! - Sandy

11. I have been struggling with constant pain in my shoulder and neck for about 2 months now. It has kept me up at nights even while taking Extra Strength Tylenol. I have used Tiger balm along with Epsom salt soaks to reduce the pain. I remembered having Nerve-Pang in my essential oil box and decided to use it for relief. The pain in my shoulder and neck are practically non-existent now throughout the day and night. My husband was amazed and asked me to put some on his back as he struggles with constant back pain. He is seeing similar results. I asked him how his back felt and he said, Great! I haven't heard that in a very long time. We are so thankful for this blend.  Thank you! - Elle

12. I can't believe what Nerv-Pang does for me. I have a condition where my feet turn black, and my MD just wants to put me on pharmaceutical medications, which I don't want to take due to all the awful side effects and potential ramifications of doing that. I purchased your Nerv-Pang and used it and my spider veins disappeared. It's a miracle! I can't believe it - it's the most wonderful thing! - Martha

Safety
Use caution with Peppermint oil orally and calcium channel antagonists. Peppermint oil is a calcium channel blocker and may alter the effects of these drugs (specifically felodipine was mentioned in the research). Calcium channel blockers are common medications given for high blood pressure. In this instance, Peppermint may potentiate the medication. Oral use of Peppermint should also be avoided in case of gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD).

CAUTION Children: "Essential oils high in menthol (Peppermint) can cause CNS and breathing problems in young children, and should not be applied on or near their faces."
A proprietary menthol-containing oil was reported to cause incoordination, confusion and delirium when 5 mL of the product (35.5% peppermint oil) was inhaled over a long time period ( O’Mullane et al 1982 ). Nasal preparations containing menthol can cause apnea and collapse in infants following instillation into the nose ( Melis et al 1989 ; Reynolds 1993 ). "The most serious symptoms, including coma, were seen in a child of under two months, who had 1 mL of an unspecified menthol solution instilled into his nose. Some of the others suffered not more than mucous membrane irritation. In most cases the drops were given accidentally, instead of another, safer preparation. No details were given regarding the amounts of (-)-menthol or 1,8-cineole adminstered, so it is difficult to extrapolate to essential oils. Clearly, peppermint and eucalyptus oil would be implicated, and these are among the oils commonly used as decongestants. Other essential oils, administered in this way, could cause similar problems, and we recommend that peppermint, cornmint, and any oil with 40% or more 1,8-cineole should not be applied to the face of infants or children, or otherwise inhaled by them (Tisserand)."

Avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Essential oils are both lipophilic and hydrophobic. Lipophilic means they are attracted to fat— like the membranes of your eyes and skin. They are also hydrophobic, meaning they do not like water. Applying a carrier oil will create another fat for the essential oil to be attracted to other than the membranes of the eyes or skin. Tisserand suggests: "With essential oils, fatty oil has been suggested as an appropriate first aid treatment, though the advantage of saline [eyewash] is that the eyes can be continually flushed, and this is less easy with fatty oil.” We are not aware of a case where essential oil in the eyes caused permanent injury or long-term discomfort, but if you feel concerned, please call your health care provider.
